Storms

The Alien attacks continued. We found footage on hacked police tapes and security cameras but try as we might the media never reported any of them. And while some of the attacks seemed minor they had long lasting effects that couldn't always be seen right away.

And yet there seemed to be no reason for the attacks, no motives that we could see. The people being attacked weren't being kidnapped and as far as we knew none of them had any connections to the growing resistance. It was as if they were simply trying to show us what they were capable of or perhaps trying to find out for themselves what they were capable of.
_______

"Ever heard of a two story storm drain?" Wooley asked pointing to a second level of pipes above where he and Steve were standing.

"Not that I know of," Steve answered.

"Me neither," Wooley said, "Want to go check it out?"

"Might as well," Steve agreed, "We can't get any more lost than we are now."

As they made their way along the drain they noticed they were going up in elevation. Then after a while they started going down in elevation. "You hear that?" Wooley asked.

"Sounds like running water," Steve said.

"Yeah," Wooley agreed, "a lot of it. Let's go check it out."

Further on down they noticed the tunnel was getting brighter. "Maybe we're close to Buffalo Creek," Steve said.

"I don't think so," Wooley said as he looked out over what was obviously a man made or Alien made underground canal complete with roads on both sides and tug boats pushing barges in both directions with lighting overhead.

Steve looked out over the underground canal and said, "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore."

"Or maybe we are," Wooley mumbled.
________

In what could only be called a weather anomaly, an unprecedented record 36" of snow fell over night. For an area that often goes years without so much as a flake we were in fact facing a nightmare. Being that she was at the shop when the snow started falling, Bobbie grabbed the welder and went to work. By the time the snow had stopped falling she was ready to ride. It just so happened a set of tire chains designed to fit Steve's Toyota only needed a few links removed to make them fit the Hog. Bobbie swapped out the rear sprocket for one about the size of a pizza pan and started plowing her way to Greensboro to continue the search for Steve and Wooley.

While most folks were attributing the snowfall to global climate change, we believed it had something to do with the electromagnetic disturbances that had been thwarting every effort to find Steve and Wooley. Each time a team would venture into the storm drains under Greensboro their compasses would eventually begin to spin, forcing them to turn around and make their way back out. And no matter what the cause of the storm, as soon as folks saw Bobbie plowing her way to Greensboro, Donny found himself swamped, welding together plows for motorcycles while I cut parts until we ran out of steel to work with.
