Bobbie spent the next few weeks doing nothing but grunt work, fixing the plumbing, changing oil, fixing flats, running errands, answering the phone, painting the shop and washing the company trucks over and over again. And she always got stuck dealing with the worst customers. She finally figured out the reason the trucks were washed so often was that the guys were hoping to see her in a soaking wet t-shirt but she kept her dignity and never allowed that to happen. Much to the guys dismay.
She was frustrated that they weren't ready to trust her with the important and fun jobs but she knew the time would come when she would show them something they couldn't do. Besides, it was fun watching a bunch of old men fall all over themselves just because of her being there. Never let it be said there aren't at least a few advantages for attractive young women in a male dominated world. Besides, Bobbie knew, given enough time she'd be running the entire show. They were, after all, just men.
Katei came riding in on her skateboard one morning with news that the Grey Aliens were planning something really big but no one knew what it was. What ever it was the plans were in a vault in the top floor of the Alien's building someone needed to get them out. "Is there any way to get up there?" Katei asked.
"The Stench climbed the outside of the building, maybe we could get him to help," Wooley said.
"No," Donny said, "If Jeff Martin goes anywhere near Downtown he'll be arrested on suspicion and charged with a parole violation."
"Yeah," Steve agreed, "No need to sacrifice him for nothing. Besides, a failed attempt will tip them off. Then we'll never get in."
"So what do we do?" Katei asked. "We've got to stop them."
"I can get in," Bobbie said.
"How do you plan to do that?" Wooley asked.
"Yeah," Donny added, "You're good looking and all but is that going to get you past the armed guards, the security system and to the top floor when the files are locked away in the vault?"
"I'll go in through the roof," Bobbie answered.
The guys just looked at her dumbfounded. "You go, Girl!" Katei exclaimed.
"And how do you plan to do that?" Steve asked.
"I'll skydive," Bobbie replied.
"But the FAA is still watching our jet," Donny said, "How do we get you in the air?"
"I don't need an airplane to go skydiving," Bobbie answered. "There's a construction site just to the southwest of Downtown."
"A construction site?" Wooley asked. "How are you..."
"You just leave that up to me," Bobbie answered. "Now get on your bikes, are we going or not?"
The five of them rode to Bobbie's house where she picked up her skydiving gear and made their way to the construction site. Being it was a Sunday there was no one on the job. "Can one of you hot-wire that crane?" Bobbie asked.
"Piece of cake," Steve answered. "One crane coming up."
As Bobbie put on her skydiving gear and got into position, Steve fired up the crane and raised the weight.
Minutes later, with the prevailing winds blowing gently from the southwest, Bobbie landed atop the Alien's building, slipped inside, cracked the safe, found the documents she was looking for and took the elevator to the lobby where Steve and Wooley were waiting outside to give her a lift back to her motorcycle after which they all had coffee at the Green Bean and a fast ride out of Greensboro. The Greys never knew Bobbie had been there.
